ADVANCED ENDOSCOPY GASTROENTEROLOGIST
Department of Veterans Affairs
Job Description
Job Description
ADVANCED ENDOSCOPY GASTROENTEROLOGIST
Location: Dallas, Texas
Engage in Advanced Endoscopy. Educate. Lead. Impact Veterans' Lives.
Become part of a supportive and collaborative Gastroenterology team where your skills in Advanced Endoscopy are appreciated, your opinions matter, and your work-life balance is honored. Conduct intricate, high-stakes procedures for Veterans throughout the region while benefiting from substantial clinical support, a high volume of procedures, academic prospects, and a quality lifestyle that makes this facility an outstanding place to work.
We are in search of a distinguished Gastroenterologist with fellowship training and specialization in Advanced Endoscopy to join one of the largest and most comprehensive VA healthcare systems in the country.
If you seek high procedural volume, complex cases, a remarkable multidisciplinary team, academic opportunities, and a chance to practice medicine free from the pressures of a production-focused private practice , this position is worth considering.
WHY JOIN US?
As the second-largest VA healthcare system in the U.S. , our facility offers a wide-ranging and robust GI practice catering to a large and diverse Veteran population.
This is not a low-volume practice . Our Advanced Endoscopists have the chance to perform numerous procedures weekly while handling a combination of advanced and general gastroenterology.
Your practice may encompass:
EUS and ERCP
Biliary and pancreatic interventions
Stenting
Pancreatic necrosectomy
Large polyp resection
Complex therapeutic endoscopy
Other advanced endoscopic procedures
General GI procedures and consultations
Inpatient and outpatient GI care
Your daily practice can provide the clinical diversity and procedural intricacy that seasoned Advanced Endoscopists desire , while maintaining a manageable clinic volume compared to many private-sector settings.
A PRACTICE FOCUSED ON PATIENT CARE - NOT RVUs
At our facility, you will not be working under a production or RVU-based compensation model.
There’s no need to constantly pursue volume, negotiate with insurers, or allow productivity metrics to dictate your clinical approach.
Instead, you can concentrate on what truly matters:
Caring for Veterans, delivering exceptional medical care, mentoring the next generation, and practicing at the forefront of your specialty.
EXCEPTIONAL CLINICAL SUPPORT
Advanced Endoscopy is a collaborative effort - and we provide the team necessary for your success.
You will collaborate with a remarkable multidisciplinary support network that includes:
Skilled GI nurses and technicians
Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners
Dedicated nurse case managers
Hepatology support
Outstanding cancer care coordinators
GI subspecialty support
Medical residents and fellows
ACGME-accredited Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship program
This results in a collaborative atmosphere where physicians can focus on complex clinical decisions and procedural care, supported by an experienced team throughout the patient care continuum.
ACADEMICS, TEACHING & RESEARCH
Our facility offers a unique chance to merge clinical practice with academic and educational pursuits .
The Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship provides numerous opportunities to engage with fellows, residents, and medical students. Physicians interested in teaching, research, quality improvement, or developing an academic career are encouraged to pursue these interests.
There are also opportunities for collaboration with local medical centers and other VA facilities.
Research involvement is encouraged, and physicians with interests in areas such as IBD, advanced endoscopy, hepatology, quality improvement, and clinical research will find avenues for professional growth.
CALL SCHEDULE THAT RESPECTS YOUR TIME
One of the benefits of joining an established Advanced Endoscopy team is a shared and manageable call structure .
For Advanced Endoscopists, the call rotation is approximately 1 week every 6 weeks , allowing you to maintain a fulfilling clinical practice while ensuring meaningful time away from work.
PRACTICE MEDICINE. SERVE VETERANS. ENJOY LIFE.
At our facility, you can reap the benefits of a federal career while working in a vibrant metropolitan area.
You will have access to a comprehensive VA/Federal benefits package , which may include:
- Federal retirement benefits
- Health and dental insurance
- Paid time off
- Federal holidays
- Malpractice protection
- Education and professional development opportunities
- Potential Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)
EDRP is subject to eligibility, funding, and program availability.
Most importantly, you will have the chance to practice medicine without the ongoing administrative burden of dealing with insurance companies and private-sector productivity pressures.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The ideal candidate will possess:
Fellowship training in Advanced Endoscopy
Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Gastroenterology
Expertise in advanced endoscopic procedures, including EUS and ERCP
Experience with therapeutic and complex endoscopy
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to patient-centered care
An interest in teaching and collaborating with fellows, residents, and medical students
JOIN US IN DALLAS FOR YOUR NEXT CHAPTER
If you are an Advanced Endoscopist seeking volume without burnout, complexity without chaos, academics without sacrificing clinical practice, and a genuinely supportive team , consider exploring this opportunity.
Serve those who served. Practice medicine as it should be practiced.
