Brand Ambassador / Field Marketing & Event Team (Part-Time)

Green Shield Deck Builders is hiring Part-Time Brand Ambassadors for our Field Marketing & Event Team to promote deck-building services across Michigan and Indiana. If you enjoy a fast-paced, energetic environment, connecting with people, and flexible, event-driven hours, this role is ideal. As a Green Shield Event Team member, you’ll be the first contact for homeowners interested in outdoor transformations, educating the community, and generating leads by confidently engaging homeowners about their projects.

Your Role as a Part-Time Brand Ambassador / Field Marketer 

A week in the life of a Field Marketer: Your part-time schedule will be event-driven and may fluctuate, typically involving evening and weekend shifts. Time is generally focused on: 

• Events (e.g., home shows, deck open houses): Setting up the Green Shield presence, proactively engaging with attendees, and starting conversations with homeowners about their deck projects. 
• Canvassing: Approaching homeowners in neighborhoods near events to extend an invitation, introduce Green Shield deck services, and qualify leads. 
• Planning / Follow-Up: Preparing for upcoming events and coordinating with the scheduling team to ensure smooth handoffs.

Core Responsibilities 

• Passionately communicate the value of Green Shield Deck Builders’ services, materials, and craftsmanship to potential customers. 
• Actively generate leads and interest for deck-building services through participation in various promotional channels. 
• Clearly communicate Green Shield Deck Builders’ value proposition to potential homeowners. 
• Actively generate interest and book qualified appointments with homeowners who are considering a new deck or upgrade. 
• Engage with the public professionally and enthusiastically to introduce Green Shield Deck Builders and our services. 
• Approach homeowners proactively, start conversations, ask qualifying questions about outdoor projects, handle rejection, and continue engaging new leads. 
• Set sales appointments with qualified leads. 
• Represent Green Shield at community events, home shows, deck open houses, and in targeted neighborhoods—this role involves frequent regional travel, bringing our brand directly to customers. 
• Travel throughout Michigan and Indiana to attend scheduled events. 
• Share customer feedback, questions, and market insights with management to help improve our approach and future initiatives. 
• Problem-solve any event issues on site to ensure events run smoothly. 
• Maintain a professional demeanor while having fun—stay energetic, approachable, and engaging with everyone you meet.

Benefits & Compensation 

• Base Pay: $20/hour. 
• Appointment Bonus: $50 for each appointment set that meets our qualification criteria. 
• Commission: 2% commission on any project that closes from your generated lead. 
• Travel Stipend: $600 monthly stipend instead of mileage reimbursement to support your travel expenses in this travel-based role.

Schedule & Availability 

• Must be available to work part-time hours (up to 30 hours/week), primarily focused on event schedules, which will include evenings and weekends. 
• Hours will vary depending on scheduled events.

Travel Expectations 

• Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the Michigan and Indiana service territory. 
• Events may require driving several hours from your home location, and some weekends may involve multiple event days with the possibility of overnight stays. 
• Travel requirements will vary depending on event schedules.

Role & Skills 

• Comfortable approaching new people, starting conversations, and building quick rapport with homeowners. 
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and always ready to bring a great attitude to every interaction. 
• Punctual, responsible, and ready to take initiative—especially when working independently in the field. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Self-motivated, with a proactive approach to lead generation. 
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and handling basic event materials as needed. 
• Ability to stand for long periods, walk long distances, and lift up to 50 pounds as required by event and canvassing activities. 
• Work may require standing outdoors for extended periods or at event setups. 
• Previous canvassing or field marketing experience is strongly preferred.
