Qualifications:

• Active (or eligible for) Virginia Special Education Teaching License
• Background in developing and implementing IEPs
• Solid understanding of compliance/documentation in special education
• Excellent classroom management and positive behavior support skills
• Collaborative mindset to work alongside multidisciplinary teams and families
• Previous experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and self-contained classrooms preferred
• Knowledge of ABA, visual schedules, social stories, and functional communication systems a plus
• Training in crisis prevention/de-escalation valued

Responsibilities:

• Develop/implement IEPs for students with Autism
• Provide direct instruction tailored to student needs
• Apply evidence-based strategies and positive behavior supports
• Supervise paraprofessionals and foster family engagement
• Collect/analyze progress data, maintain compliance
• Support communication, self-regulation, and life skills
• Ensure a safe, engaging, structured classroom environment
