The Patient Services Specialist I is responsible for ensuring a seamless patient experience through appointment scheduling, referrals, authorizations, registration, and checkout activities. This role serves as a liaison between patients, providers, payers, and clinical staff to support efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The role requires fluency in both English and Spanish to support the diverse needs of our patient population. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments while supporting efficient patient access and clinic operations. Process and track referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications while coordinating with insurance carriers, provider offices, and patients. Verify insurance eligibility, collect copays, and maintain accurate patient registration and demographic information. Coordinate follow-up appointments, specialty care referrals, and diagnostic testing to support continuity of care. Maintain accurate electronic medical records and supporting documentation. Partner with providers, medical assistants, and care teams to improve patient flow, close care gaps, and enhance patient satisfaction. Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations and patient care. Qualifications Bilingual in Spanish required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Medical office experience preferred. Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience with referrals, authorizations, scheduling, or patient registration preferred. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems. Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions Our organization follows an in-person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a daily basis. The home site for this position is 509 W Tidwell Suite 200, Houston, TX 77091. The base pay range for this role is $16 - $22 per hour. This salary range represents our national target range for this role. Frequent interaction with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and clinic staff. Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer use throughout the workday. Fast-paced medical office environment requiring attention to detail and effective multitasking.
