Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Maintenance Technician to oversee daily maintenance operations in a fast-paced industrial environment, such as a distribution center or manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for performing hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of conveyors, material handling systems, automated equipment, and facility machinery while leading a team of maintenance technicians. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with preventive maintenance programs, and proven leadership abilities to assign work, prioritize tasks, and ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and on schedule. This description aligns with maintenance leadership responsibilities and conveyor system maintenance experience found in internal maintenance-related job documents.

• Lead and coordinate daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure timely completion of repairs, preventive maintenance, and projects.
• Assign work orders, establish daily priorities, and delegate tasks based on technician skill levels and operational needs.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and automated material handling equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs while ensuring accurate documentation of maintenance activities.
• Review completed work and verify repairs are performed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
• Train, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians to improve technical skills and team performance.
• Coordinate with operations and production leaders to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, facility improvements, and capital projects.
• Ensure compliance with all safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and company standards. These responsibilities are consistent with internal maintenance technician and maintenance leadership examples involving conveyor systems, work-order management, mentoring technicians, and assigning maintenance tasks.

• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution center environment.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience leading maintenance personnel.
• Strong experience maintaining and troubleshooting conveyor systems and automated material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience assigning work, managing maintenance priorities, and coordinating daily maintenance schedules.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience utilizing CMMS or maintenance management software.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or maintenance certifications preferred. Qualifications are based on skills and experience commonly referenced in internal maintenance and material-handling maintenance job descriptions.
• Preferred: Experience leading maintenance teams in a high-volume distribution center, e-commerce facility, or automated manufacturing environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Bessemer, AL.

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Bessemer,AL.
