Media Specialist

Summary We are seeking a passionate and creative Media Specialist to join the team Jackson Public Schools. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience through innovative media solutions, supporting students and staff in utilizing technology effectively, and fostering a culture of media literacy. This full-time position requires a dynamic individual who is dedicated to promoting digital citizenship and enhancing communication within the school community. Responsibilities Develop and implement media programs that support curriculum objectives and enhance student learning. Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology and media resources into classroom instruction. Manage the school's media center, including the selection, acquisition, and organization of resources. Provide training and support to students and staff on the use of various media tools and technologies. Create and maintain engaging content for the school's website, social media platforms, and other communication channels. Organize workshops, events, and presentations to promote media literacy and digital citizenship among students and staff. Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of media programs and resources, making recommendations for improvements. Stay current with trends in educational technology and media, incorporating new tools and practices as appropriate. Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment in the media center, encouraging student engagement and collaboration. Collaborate with the administration and other staff to promote school-wide initiatives and events through effective media strategies. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Media Studies, Education, Communications, or a related field. Previous experience in a media specialist or similar role, preferably in an educational setting. Strong knowledge of digital media tools, educational technology, and media literacy principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the community. Proficiency in social media platforms, website management, and multimedia content creation. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A passion for fostering a love of learning and promoting innovative use of media in education. Familiarity with copyright laws, digital ethics, and best practices in media usage. Ability to adapt to changing technologies and educational needs.
