Safety CoordinatorMonroe, GACompensation IncludesStarting Pay Rate of $28.50/hourThe Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading site-level safety execution and ensuring compliance with all corporate safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements. This role serves as the facility's primary safety resource, proactively identifying hazards, implementing effective risk reduction measures, and fostering a culture where employees can perform their jobs safely every day. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for auditing safety systems, driving corrective actions, enforcing safety standards, responding to emergencies, and managing occupational injury and illness cases.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct routine safety inspections, behavioral observations, and compliance audits to identify hazards and verify adherence to corporate safety programs.Recognize workplace hazards and develop practical, sustainable corrective actions that eliminate or reduce risk through engineering controls, administrative controls, and safe work practices.Ensure employees are equipped with and consistently comply with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.Administer and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, hot work, contractor safety, and other critical safety programs.Lead incidents, injury, and near-miss investigations utilizing root cause analysis methodologies and ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.Maintain all safety records, audits, training documentation, and regulatory compliance records.Coordinate and conduct employee safety training, new hire orientation, and ongoing safety education programs.Partner with supervisors and managers to improve safety performance and drive accountability throughout the organization.Participate in safety committee activities and promote employee engagement in hazard identification and risk reduction efforts.Serve as a site medical responder and provide first-response assistance during workplace medical emergencies.Maintain required responder certifications and emergency response readiness.Remain available 24/7 to respond to significant safety incidents, injuries, medical emergencies, environmental events, or regulatory concerns.Manage workers' compensation and occupational injury cases from initial treatment through return-to-work.Coordinate with medical providers, employees, supervisors, and insurance representatives to ensure appropriate treatment plans and timely return-to-work opportunities.Develop and administer modified-duty programs designed to minimize OSHA recordable injuries and lost-time cases while supporting employee recovery.Monitor industry best practices and regulatory requirements and recommend improvements to site safety programs.Preferred QualificationsAssociate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related field preferred.Three to five years of manufacturing safety experience is preferred.Demonstrated ability to identify hazards and implement effective risk-reduction measures.Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety practices.Experience administering PPE, LOTO, machine guarding, ergonomics, and injury prevention programs.Experience conducting investigations and root cause analysis.Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), Certified Safety & Health Official (CSHO), or equivalent certification preferred.First Aid, CPR, and AED certification required or ability to obtain upon hire.Experience managing workers' compensation claims, return-to-work programs, and medical case management strongly preferred.Ability to influence behaviors and hold employees accountable for safe work practices.Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management software.Critical Success FactorsProactively identifies and addresses hazards before incidents occur.Holds all levels of the organization accountable to safety standards.Demonstrates sound judgment during emergencies.Builds strong relationships with employees, supervisors, and healthcare providers.Focuses on creating fail-safe systems that protect employees from injury.Drives continuous safety improvement through auditing, coaching, and corrective action follow-through.
