About the Position

Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 3 years of RN Operating Room experience License: Required Certifications: BLS certification required; ACLS is a plus Must-Have: Must be comfortable circulating in various cases. Description: Department includes 7 operating suites. The average number of cases per day ranges from 5 to 25. Required certifications include BLS for RN Circulators. Experience in general surgery and orthopedic cases, specifically total joints, is necessary. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in plastics procedures. Experience in similar size facilities, including Trauma Level 3 and 4, or Critically Access Hospitals, is required. Scrubbing is required for this position. Scrub experience is preferred for registered nurses. There is 1 charge nurse for the unit. Operating room technicians are available. The Electronic Medical Record system used is Cerner/Oracle. Shifts are scheduled as five 8-hour shifts per week, from 0645 to 1515. Late stay rotations and on-call rotations are part of the schedule. Scheduling is managed by the unit manager, and flexibility is expected to help fill scheduling gaps. Weeknight on-call requirements are 1 to 2 times per week, typically from Monday to Friday, totaling 15.5 hours. Weekend on-call requirements are 1 to 2 times per month, with 24-hour call shifts from Saturday 0645 to Sunday 0645. Holiday on-call requirements may include rotation on the day before and day of the holiday, as well as the day after. Call response time is expected to be 30 minutes. Floating into scrub roles or other areas may be required to assist. Scrub color and dress code will be provided by the facility. Unit-specific orientation includes 1 to 2 shifts with a preceptor. This position is in a rural community hospital, which offers a wide variety of cases.
