Registered Nurse - PICU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The PICU RN provides specialized care to critically ill pediatric patients in a high-acuity environment, ensuring their medical, surgical, and supportive needs are met with compassion and expertise. This role involves working in a dynamic, fast-paced unit dedicated to pediatric intensive care.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor pediatric patients' conditions, implementing individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and ventilatory support such as ECMO and CRRT as prescribed.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including respiratory therapists and pediatric specialists, to coordinate care.
• Educate and support families, providing updates and addressing concerns throughout the patient's stay.
• Maintain accurate documentation using the EPIC charting system, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
• Respond rapidly to emergencies, demonstrating proficiency in life-saving procedures and pediatric stabilization protocols.

Qualifications:

• Valid South Carolina or multi-state/compact RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of PICU nursing experience.
• Current BLS and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to float within scope to meet unit needs.
• Experience with complex therapies such as ECMO and CRRT preferred.
• Willingness to work 3x12 night shifts, including weekends and holidays.
