Position Overview

Agave Mechanical is seeking a skilled and dependable Residential Retrofit HVAC Installer to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for the removal and installation of residential HVAC systems, including all related piping, ductwork, and connections. You will ensure each project is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.

This position is ideal for an experienced residential installer who takes pride in craftsmanship, works well independently or as part of a team, and is proficient in soldering and welding as part of complete system installations.

• $25.00 – $40.00 per hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Remove and install residential HVAC systems, including split systems, package units, heat pumps, and air handlers
• Perform residential retrofit and system replacement installations in existing homes
• Install, solder, braze, and weld refrigerant piping and mechanical connections as required
• Fabricate and modify ductwork, plenums, and sheet metal components
• Accurately set, level, and secure equipment according to manufacturer specifications
• Perform refrigerant piping, electrical connections, condensate drainage, and gas piping connections
• Pressure test, evacuate, charge, and start up HVAC systems
• Test, commission, and verify system performance, airflow, and proper operation
• Troubleshoot and correct installation-related issues during and after installation
• Ensure all installations meet local codes, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional worksite inside customers’ homes
• Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners throughout the installation process
• Coordinate with dispatch, management, and team members on scheduling and material needs
• Complete required job documentation, checklists, and system start-up forms

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 3–5+ years of residential HVAC installation experience
• Proven experience with residential retrofit and replacement installations
• Proficiency in soldering, brazing, and welding HVAC-related piping and components
• Strong knowledge of residential HVAC systems, ductwork, and airflow principles
• Working knowledge of refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pumps, gas systems, and electrical components
• Ability to read and follow installation manuals, schematics, and job specifications
• Experience using diagnostic tools and performing system start-up and testing
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
• Commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer satisfaction
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle
