License: Must hold and maintain a Registered Nursing license

Certifications: BLS certified or obtained within 1 month of hire. ACLS, PALS, NRP certification required or obtained within 12 months of hire. TNCC encouraged.

Two-year degree in nursing required. BSN preferred.

Description: The Charge Nurse position coordinates and evaluates the delivery of safe and effective patient care. This role serves as a nursing resource for hospital departments and a liaison for patients and visitors. The Charge Nurse demonstrates professionalism, meets regulatory and policy requirements, and engages in standards of practice. They hold team members accountable for safe, competent practice, quality care, and continual improvement. Essential job duties include overseeing communication related to the coordination of patient care across the facility. Daily rounding in various departments is required to assess and communicate patient transfers. The Charge Nurse oversees flow between departments and sets the tone for a professional work environment. Mentoring and being a resource for staff questions and interventions is a critical function. Assisting Directors with timely behavior expectations and ensuring proper follow-up is essential. The role also includes assisting staff in providing direct patient care as needed and ensuring staff availability. Retrieving items necessary for patient care that are not readily available is required. The Charge Nurse assists with determining proper patient placement for admissions. They help with after-hours pharmacy needs and manage incident command during mass casualty incidents. Coordinating staffing needs between departments is also a key responsibility. Performs other duties as requested.
