Region I: Primary to St Francis Hospital, but if needed, travelers will be required to float throughout Region One: St. Anne Hospital - Burien, WA; Virginia Mason Medical Center - Seattle, WA; St. Francis Hospital - Federal Way, WA. Additional *** hours when floated within Region I that's not the primary facility.

Common diagnoses/Types of patients post STEMI Cardiac cath intervention, sepsis, respiratory failure, DKA, post operative ICU level care need, post vascular surgical intervention care, CHF, post cardiac arrest, renal failure with hemodialysis and CRRT, post stroke and TPA infusion, GI bleed, substance and alcohol withdrawal management
Experience or 'Must have' skills General Medical ICU experience including sepsis management, targeted temperature managment, manual proning for the intubated patient, experience with post cardiac cath and PCI care both radial and groin approach ideal, post TPA infusion management for stroke,
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips Levophed, propofol, heparin, vasopressin, phenylephrine, insulin, diltiazem, amioderone, nitroglycerine, dexmedetonmidine, furosemide, dopamine, dobutamine
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor charge nurse dedicated to department and hospital supervisor between 11-7:30AM
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios no - resource nurse staffed for unit based on census/acuity
Hospitalist or Intensivist in house hospitalist in house 24/7, intensivist available via VICU after 7:00PM with ability for provider to come on site if needed.
RT in ICU 24/7 Yes
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) Ventilators, highflow, Cpap, Bipap, AVaps
Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Monitor tech, tele on unit, strips to be verified by RN
Shifts & Scheduling shifts 6PM-6:30AM for nights, scheduling ever other weekend and based on department need, schedules published every 6 weeks with travelers added to the schedule post publication and provided.

Is there a call or standby requirement? Not required
Floating Requirements Yes, floating occures in rotation with staff to department need within acute care and ER transition. ICU nurse assignment expectation is a maximum of 3 patients
Scrub Color/Dress Code no scrub color, clean professional scrubs/attire
Unit/Department specific orientation 1 day with educator for department and educational orientation including module work, 1 day of EPIC training if needed (never used, or greater than a year use in specific area) and 2 days of orientation in department
Additional Notes Great teamwork and a variety of patients to care for. Department takes both procedural/surgical and medical patients that allows for a wide variety of skills to be utilized. Location of hospital is between Seattle and Tacoma in the puget sound region of Washington and located close to many outdoor activities as well.
