The Thomas Law Office PLC is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to support our business litigation practice. This role is best for someone who enjoys substantive legal work and also excels at seeing cases progress, coordinating with attorneys and support staff, and growing within the role to be a central and valued member of our team. 

Compensation:

$55,000 - $65,000

Responsibilities:

Substantive Litigation Support  

• Review and analyze discovery responses and document productions. 

• Prepare document chronologies and issue summaries. 

• Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, correspondence, discovery requests, and discovery responses. 

• Assist attorneys with trial preparation, hearing preparation, and exhibit organization. 

• Conduct procedural and factual research. 

• Monitor court dockets and identify required actions. 

• Identify missing evidence, inconsistencies, and factual gaps within case files.

Matter Ownership  

• Serve as the primary paralegal for assigned litigation matters. 

• Identify next steps and proactively move cases forward. 

• Ensure deadlines are properly captured, monitored, and addressed. 

• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, vendors, and third parties. 

• Assist attorneys in prioritizing matters based on deadlines, risks, and client needs.

• Utilize administrative support staff for routine administrative functions and review delegated work for accuracy and completeness while maintaining overall ownership of assigned matters.

Qualifications:

Required  

• 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience.

• Experience reviewing discovery and document productions.

• Experience drafting litigation-related documents.

• Exceptional attention to detail.

• Strong organizational and case-management skills.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

• Ability to effectively delegate appropriate administrative tasks to support staff and follow through on delegated work.

Preferred  

• Experience working with Clio Case Management Software, strongly preferred.

• Business litigation experience.

• Experience with Virginia civil litigation.

• Experience with Virginia Circuit Court and General District Court procedures.

• Appellate support experience.

• Experience managing discovery workflows.

• Experience working with Microsoft 365 and project management platforms (or similar).

• Prior experience meeting billable-hour expectations.
