SCHOOL NURSE

REPORTS TO: Junior-Senior High School Administration
PAY TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt, Classified, Non-Supervisory
PAY RATE: Starting at $30 / hr.
BENEFITS: Eligible for voluntary benefits only (see attachment for details)
SCHEDULE: 108 days; Part-time; 7.5 hrs. / day; 3 days / week

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Uses clinical knowledge and judgment to provide health care services to students and staff
• Serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and healthcare providers to advocate for healthcare and a healthy school environment
• Administers prescribed medications
• Establishes and maintains current medical records on students including state mandated health screenings and immunizations
• Develops and maintains healthcare plans, emergency care plans, and necessary protocols to ensure student safety

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

• Education, Training, and Experience Required:
  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse license in good standing
  • Displays excellent communication skills and professional demeanor
  • Experience working in a school environment preferred
  • Previous nursing experience preferred
• Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:
  • Displays positive and enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to work as a team with other staff
  • Displays dependability and punctuality
  • Displays strong attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Possesses strong ethical background

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Position works indoors in a typical school office setting
• May work near others, often within a few feet
• May occasionally be exposed to noise levels that are distracting
• May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull
• May need to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• May be exposed to blood and bodily fluids at times
