The Role

We are seeking a Research Associate to support our preclinical cell and tissue replacement programs, with a primary focus on histology, tissue analysis, and neural graft characterization. This role will work closely with our scientific team to process and analyze brain tissue, develop and optimize histological assays, and generate data that directly informs our preclinical programs. The Research Associate will also contribute to vivarium and laboratory operations in our fast-paced early-stage environment.

Key Responsibilities

Histology & Tissue Analysis : Perfuse rodents; embed and section frozen and paraffin tissue; perform histological staining and immunohistochemistry on rodent and human brain tissue; optimize staining conditions and antibody panels; and image tissue using epifluorescence and confocal microscopy.

Preclinical Research: Support neural graft studies through tissue processing, imaging, data generation, and assay development. Work with the scientific team to troubleshoot experiments and improve histological workflows.

Vivarium & In Vivo Support : Support vivarium operations, including breeding and animal ordering, maintenance of housing and breeding records, coordination with veterinary staff, and IACUC documentation and compliance.

Lab Operations : Help maintain an efficient research environment through inventory tracking, procurement and ordering, reagent and consumable management, organized storage systems, and general laboratory organization.

Qualifications

Required:

BS/AS in Histology, Biology, Bioengineering, or related field with 2+ years of hands-on laboratory experience. 

Demonstrated expertise in cryosectioning and tissue staining techniques. Familiarity with optimizing immunohistochemistry protocols and titrating antibodies.

Experience with general lab operations, inventory management/ordering, and basic vivarium maintenance protocols.

Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team setting. 

Preferred:

Prior experience with human fetal brain tissue and/or rodent brain tissue processing.

Experience supporting preclinical research or cell therapy pipelines.

Compensation:  $75,000 – 100,000 based on experience with competitive health insurance and equity.
