Senior Clinical Pharmacist

Job Description We’re hiring a Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join the Commercial Pharmacy department. You will plan, coordinate, and manage the clinical delivery of pharmaceutical benefits and services to BCBSNC subscribers, collaborating with Medical Directors to implement pharmacy programs. The role responsibilities include implementing and managing clinical programs such as drug utilization review, academic detailing, formulary compliance, generic substitution, clinical case management, and physician report cards. What You’ll Do Develop and implement clinical pharmacy strategies that achieve high-quality, cost‑effective pharmacy management and outcomes. Analyze, report on, and coordinate clinical programs with Health Care Management and Health Care Services Development to optimize long‑term access to high‑quality, cost‑efficient pharmacy providers. Analyze, document, and report on pharmacy project performance relative to clinical indicators. Manage and support Academic Detailing programs, conduct site visits, and participate in provider network education. Develop, implement, and manage managed care programs such as prior authorization and quantity limitations to meet plan goals. Ensure clinical compliance with law and regulatory bodies, represent pharmacy programs before entities such as the North Carolina Department of Insurance and the National Committee for Quality Assurance, and maintain formulary compliance programs. Develop educational materials, newsletters, member and provider talking points, and disseminate clinical information for internal and external audiences. Pursue active membership in professional organizations and pursue ongoing professional development to identify industry trends, best practices, and innovative solutions. Manage requirements for the organization’s participation in Medicare Part D. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree OR 7+ years of experience in a related field (in lieu of a degree). 5+ years of experience in a related field. Licensed pharmacist or eligible for licensure in North Carolina. Bonus Points (Preferred Qualifications) Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent time management and organizational abilities. Proficiency working with internal and external stakeholders. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint. Experience creating and delivering professional presentations. Community pharmacy experience preferred. Salary Range At Blue Cross NC, our compensation package reflects market price and typically sits near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by experience, training, specialized skill sets, licensure, and certifications.
