The posted compensation range of $52.04 - $77.42/hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.

As our Speech Language Pathologist, you will be a vital clinician, expertly assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.

Every day, you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients, meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. You'll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols, and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.

To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced clinical knowledge, exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessment of swallowing/dysphagia, utilizing, but not limited to, bedside swallow and video swallow (MBSS) testing.
  • Provides patient/family/Care Partner/caregiver education, initiating as soon as feasible after admission. Works to ensure transfer of knowledge using a variety of techniques (i.e., teach back, demonstration, video, written handouts).
  • Establishes and follows patient precautions. Observes patients' responses to treatment and reports unusual occurrences. Follows hand-off guidelines.
  • Acts as Clinical Instructor backup for Speech Therapist students, as appropriate. Not applicable for casual per diem.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an approved school of Communication Disorders holding a Master's Degree or higher
  • Current CA SLP license. Recent board-eligible graduates will be considered for provisional appointments.
  • CFY candidates must apply at the conclusion of CFY (required for student supervision).
  • Speech Language Pathologist: CA (SLP: CA)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)
  • Fire Safety card required. (must obtain within 90 days of start date)

Founded in 1955, Dignity Health - Northridge Hospital Medical Center is a 394-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located.
