Opportunity:

RN - ER

Job Details:

• Work 12-hour shifts with variable start times at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend requirement (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday requirement of at least 2-3 shifts during winter, otherwise every other holiday during the contract
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4 during the day, with higher ratios at night after 11:00 PM; after 3:00 AM only 2 RNs until 7:00 AM
• 2 years of emergency department experience required
• Michigan nursing license required and must be in hand at time of submission
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
• Trauma Level IV facility with no stroke or STEMI receiving capabilities; those patients are sent out
• 14-bed emergency department with 2 trauma bays and a Fast Track area with 3 designated rooms
• Common patient diagnoses include traumas, STEMIs, strokes, hunting injuries, MVAs, and farm-related incidents
• Average patient volume of 40-60 patients per day
• Triage available after review and understanding of facility policies and procedures
• ED physician available 24/7 in-house along with mid-level providers
• 24/7 respiratory therapy, phlebotomy, and radiology support available
• RNs required to read their own monitor strips; no monitor techs in the ER
• Floating to inpatient units may be required for helping hands
• Dress code: Any solid color scrubs, clean and professional appearance required
• Orientation includes computer-based training and 2 days of floor orientation with department-specific policies
• Volunteer to go home without pay in lieu of a formal standby requirement
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility

This acute care facility operates a fully equipped emergency department with 14 beds and 2 trauma bays, functioning as a Trauma Level IV center. The facility offers 24/7 in-house emergency physician coverage, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy services, along with a dedicated Fast Track area and separate triage rooms. Supporting ancillary services including radiology and CT imaging are readily accessible, ensuring comprehensive emergency care for the surrounding community.
