Position Description

ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY HIP AND KNEE ARTHROPLASTY SURGEON ACADEMIC POSITION UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, SAN FRANCISCO Assistant, Associate, Full Level

The University of California, San Francisco, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is recruiting for a board eligible or board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in hip and knee arthroplasty.

The selected candidate will be appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, Clinical X, or In-Residence faculty series, as appropriate based on qualifications and experience.

The selected candidate will participate in clinical care activities based primarily in Marin County and at the San Francisco VA Health Care System, with opportunities to provide care at affiliated UCSF clinical sites as needed. The candidate will participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, and fellows, including support of the Arthroplasty Fellowship Program, as appropriate.

The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in scholarly activities by collaborating in clinical, translational, and/or basic science research and disseminating findings through presentations and publications in peer reviewed journals.

Requirements: Applicant must have all requirements met by time of hire:

• A valid California medical license.
• MD or DO degree (or equivalent degree) from an accredited program.
• Completed an accredited Orthopaedic Surgery residency program.
• Completed an accredited Arthroplasty Fellowship Program.
• Board certified or eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery.
• Applicant's materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.

For positions that are 51% effort or more: The total compensation for this position ranges from $160,900 $900,000, depending on individual qualifications, clinical productivity, and other factors assessed at the time of offer.

Total compensation at the University of California, San Francisco includes your base salary, which is determined by your rank and step at appointment, and negotiated pay for Health Sciences Compensation Plan members. Faculty who are members of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan may also be eligible for additional incentive pay.

For positions that are below 51% effort: See Table 2 for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $93,700 - $246,000.

For positions exclusively/partially funded by the affiliate organization: The San Francisco VA Health Care System provided a reasonable salary estimate for this position of up to $400,000.
