RN (Med-Surg) - Loan Forgiveness - Full Time, Days (Culver City)

Position Summary The Registered Nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement a plan of care for a specific group of assigned patients, ensuring the coordination of care between other disciplines, physicians, and support staff. Performs professional nursing duties that incorporate the psychosocial, psychomotor, and age‑appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other to assess, plan, intervene, and advocate for the patient on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care. Re‑evaluates patient response and outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care, and readiness for discharge, revising the plan or making referrals as necessary. Acts as a role model and mentor to new graduate nurses, orientees, and support staff. Required Qualifications Active, current, and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing AHA Basic Life Support certification Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only) Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families Recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Acute Care setting Certification in specialty area of practice Physical Requirements Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, hearing, seeing, repetitive motions, lifting up to 10 lbs, lifting up to 25 lbs, lifting up to 50 lbs, lifting greater than 50 lbs, driving. Essential Job Functions / Major Areas of Responsibility Professional Clinical Practice Provides patient care, reviews and administers patient medications, treatments, and procedures in a safe, effective, and age‑appropriate manner that meets scope of practice and standards of nursing practice. Recognizes changes in patient’s clinical conditions, takes appropriate action, and documents interventions. Collaborates with the health care team to intervene and advocate as necessary, intervenes appropriately in instances of abuse, assault, or neglect, and makes appropriate referrals. Plan of Care Develops long‑ and short‑term goals consistent with treatment plans and standards of practice. Incorporates patient preference, discusses the plan with the patient, and uses pain management resources to provide pain relief. Provides ongoing assessments, documents the patient’s physical and psychosocial condition, reviews test results, identifies critical results, and communicates in a timely manner. Ensures nursing practice is evidence‑based, within scope of licensure, and compliant with hospital‑wide standards, including core measures, Infection Control procedures, and HIPAA compliance. Collaboration Collaborates with staff, physicians, and members of the health care team to coordinate care. Supervises, monitors, and delegates patient care activities, provides effective leadership, and ensures that care is safe and of high quality. Acts as a source of information and responds to questions, providing resources, guidance, and education about the treatment plan and medications. Develops and implements accurate teaching and ongoing discharge plans. Communication Empathizes with patients and their support systems, expresses compassion and understanding, and demonstrates appropriate care for age, culture, religion, gender identity, or ethnicity. Engages in caring behaviors, taking conscious ownership of work and thoughtful actions in interactions with patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.
