Client Overview

Our client is a global manufacturer operating over 120 business units and operations with approximately 27,000 employees worldwide , they are recognized for delivering high-engineered components to the global aerospace and defense industries. We are seeking a strategic and operationally rigorous General Manager to oversee key manufacturing operations.

Position Title: General Manager – Aerospace Machined Components

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for leading the Cleveland facilities to achieve world‐class performance in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth while ensuring alignment to the broader corporation's business objectives. This role owns full site P&L and provides strategic, operational, and cultural leadership to drive sustained improvements in profitability, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational efficiency.

The General Manager will lead a high‐performance organization within a fast‐paced, short‐cycle, highly regulated aerospace manufacturing environment with a focus on precision machining and jet engine customers.

Essential Functions

Operational & Business Leadership

• Culture & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety, compliance, and environmental stewardship across all operations.
• KPI Management: Drive performance and continuous improvement across all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Productivity, Sales, Compliance, Product Development, NPI, Communication, and Employee Development.
• Financial Accountability: Own the facility’s P&L, budgets, forecasts, and strategic plan development and execution.
• Growth Strategy: Develop short‐ and long‐term business strategies that ensure sustained growth of revenue, profit, and cash flow.
• Execution: Lead daily execution and high‐impact projects that meet or exceed SQDCP targets; when gaps occur, develop and execute credible recovery plans.
• Commercial Success: Ensure the facility meets or exceeds annual sales revenue and profitability goals; drive product line growth across volume, market share, and new customer expansion.
• Corporate Governance: Lead monthly and quarterly business reviews with Division and Corporate leadership.

Machining & Aerospace Technical Leadership

• Process Expertise: Apply knowledge of precision machining processes, including multi-axis milling, turning, configuration, finishing, and machining‐specific quality controls.
• Operational Metrics: Ensure strong performance in machining ‐related metrics: yield %, scrap rates, FPY, process capability, dimensional/NDT results, and COPQ reduction.
• Customer Relations: Maintain strong relationships and performance credibility with jet engine OEM customers and aerospace auditors.
• Regulatory Alignment: Drive improvements aligned to aircraft engine machined component requirements and regulated quality systems.

People Leadership & Culture

• Team Development: Build, develop, and lead a high‐performing manufacturing leadership team capable of executing plant strategies and strengthening employee relations.
• Decisive Guidance: Provide clear, decisive leadership on critical issues, working collaboratively with managers, engineers, and hourly teams.
• Accountability: Ensure excellent communication and engagement throughout the organization, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Talent Pipeline: Develop talent across all functions through effective coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

Cross‐Functional & External Engagement

• Collaboration: Partner closely with EHS, Engineering, Quality, Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and HR to ensure aligned objectives and effective processes.
• Communication: Communicate frequently and professionally with customers, suppliers, and corporate executives.
• Audit Readiness: Represent the facility in customer audits, technical discussions, and strategic reviews.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated ability to apply Lean Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints (TOC), Six Sigma, SPC, and structured problem‐solving methods.
• Proven capability to develop action plans, execute relentlessly, and deliver results.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced, short‐cycle manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify root causes, implement sustainable countermeasures, and drive process improvements.
• Highly organized, self‐driven, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, document, and execute key initiatives.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience & Education

Required

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Preferred: MS or MBA.
• Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing and aerospace customer environments.
• Technical Expertise: Precision machining expertise is required, including hands‐on exposure to machining processes, machining quality controls, and jet engine OEM requirements.
• Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading people and obtaining results through large, cross‐functional organizations.
• Customer Interface: Strong track record engaging directly with jet engine customers (e.g., OEM audits, quality reviews, technical discussions).
