Job Overview

Tidewater Staffing is seeking customer-focused, detail-oriented candidates for Customer Service Representative and Payment Processor positions in Virginia Beach.

Both positions require the ability to accurately process payments, maintain transaction records, and assist customers with payment-related questions. Customer Service Representatives will place greater emphasis on customer communication and issue resolution, while Payment Processors will focus more heavily on transaction accuracy, reconciliation, and payment support.

Responsibilities

• Process electronic payments through credit cards, debit cards, and other approved payment methods.
• Accurately enter, verify, and maintain customer account and transaction information.
• Provide courteous, professional assistance to customers regarding payments, account information, and transaction issues.
• Listen to customer concerns, explain payment procedures clearly, and resolve inquiries or escalate issues when necessary.
• Monitor and reconcile payment transactions, identify discrepancies, and assist with corrections.
• Communicate with customers, merchants, internal teams, and financial institutions to resolve payment-related issues.
• Document customer interactions, payment activity, and resolutions accurately.
• Follow established procedures for protecting confidential customer and financial information.
• Support fraud detection and prevention by identifying and reporting suspicious activity.
• Follow applicable payment processing requirements, company policies, and security standards.
• Assist with new merchant account setup and configurations as assigned.
• Prepare reports on transaction activity and outstanding payment issues.
• Work collaboratively to meet service expectations and processing deadlines.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience in payment processing, customer service, banking, financial services, or a related field.
• Ability to process payments accurately and handle sensitive information responsibly.
• Strong customer service skills, including active listening, patience, and professional problem-solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic math proficiency.
• Comfortable using computers, entering data, and learning payment processing and account management systems.
• Ability to review transaction information and identify discrepancies.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and remain professional under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

For Customer Service Representative openings: Strong customer communication and issue-resolution skills are especially important. Candidates must also be able to process payments accurately.

For Payment Processor openings: Strong transaction processing, reconciliation, and analytical skills are especially important. Candidates must also provide professional customer support.
