Security Specialist

Demonstrated Competence:

• Proven ability to effectively communicate and drive security plan changes and improvements to maintain NIST compliance.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, assess risks, and prioritize security tasks.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey deadlines, risks, and remediation strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Proficiency:

• Proficient in Microsoft Project for planning, tracking, and reporting security tasks and remediation activities.
• Experienced with vulnerability management tools such as ACAS and STIG Viewer.
• Skilled in collaborating with technical teams to coordinate remediation efforts and ensure timely resolution of vulnerabilities.

Certification and Experience:

• Possession of an active CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) credential or CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) credential is strongly preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing vulnerability assessments, including use of ACAS scans to evaluate compliance with STIGs and identify system vulnerabilities.
• Experience working cross-functionally with Project Managers and Product Owners to deconflict, scope, plan, and execute continuous monitoring and security efforts.
• Hold active DoD 8570 IAT Level II certifications or equivalent recognized by the Department of Defense.

Location: Selected individual shall reside within commuting distance of the National Capital Region (including Suitland, MD and Alexandria, VA) to access secure platforms on-site.
