Critical Care Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Peoria, Illinois

WPA Medicine Staffing is seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a highly collaborative ICU team in Peoria, Illinois. This opportunity offers exposure to a diverse, high-acuity patient population across Neuro, Cardiac, and Medical ICU step-down units with strong physician, fellow, and resident support.

Assignment Overview

• Specialty: Critical Care Medicine
• Location: Peoria, IL
• Setting: Inpatient ICU Step-Down Units
• Schedule: Night Shift Coverage
• Shift Hours: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
• Coverage Days: Monday Sunday
• Minimum Scheduling Requirement: 3 Consecutive Shifts
• Providers must have at least one day off after working six consecutive shifts
• No Call Required
• EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

• Manage approximately patients per shift
• Evaluate and treat critically ill patients
• Develop and implement treatment plans
• Perform bedside procedures including:
  • Central Line Placement
  • Arterial Line Placement
• Manage post-operative cardiovascular surgery patients
• Care for neurocritical care patients including:
  • Subdural Hemorrhages
  • External Ventricular Drains (EVDs)
• Participate in management of advanced cardiac support patients including:
  • Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
  • VA ECMO
  • Heart Transplant Patients
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care

Coverage Model & Support

• Three APPs provide coverage across:
  • Neuro ICU Step-Down
  • Cardiac ICU Step-Down
  • Medical ICU Step-Down
• Pulmonary patients managed in step-down units with support from an on-site Pulmonary Fellow
• Trauma Residents available on-site
• NICU Residents available on-site
• Attending Physicians available for consultation and support
• Providers do not work independently

Preferred Experience

• Prior Critical Care NP or PA experience required
• Experience managing high-acuity ICU patients
• Comfortable performing bedside procedures
• Neurocritical Care experience preferred
• Cardiovascular Critical Care experience preferred
• Experience with:
  • VADs
  • ECMO
  • Heart Transplant Patients
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary ICU team

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Active Illinois License Required at Time of Presentation
• Illinois DEA Required
• Illinois CSR Required
• ACLS Certification Required
• BLS Certification Required
• Minimum One Year Experience Required
• Active State License Required
• IMLC Candidates Will Not Be Considered
