Job Description

The Assembler works in a manufacturing and assembly environment to build and assemble components for car wash equipment. This role focuses on assembling speed dryers, wash arms, pump stands, and related components, as well as performing wiring tasks that require fine-hand manipulation and careful adherence to blueprints and production documents. The position involves working with hand and power tools, handling components weighing up to 50 pounds, and contributing to a high-quality, efficient production process within the door systems department.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble components of speed dryers, wash arms, pump stands, and related car wash equipment according to work orders and production documents.
  • Install hoses, build pump stands, and complete component assembly using hand and power tools.
  • Perform wiring tasks, including panel wiring, wiring harnesses, and electrical assembly, following schematics, simple blueprints, and production instructions.
  • Use tape measures, hand tools, and power tools accurately to measure, fit, and secure parts and assemblies.
  • Organize parts, perform kitting, and ensure all necessary components are available for each assembly job.
  • Follow mechanical and electrical assembly procedures to complete work orders to specification and on schedule.
  • Read and interpret simple blueprints, schematics, and assembly instructions to ensure correct assembly and wiring.
  • Handle and move components weighing up to 50 pounds safely and efficiently as part of the assembly process.
  • Work on an assembly line and in production areas, contributing to general labor tasks such as packaging and preparing finished products for shipping or testing.
  • Adhere to quality standards by checking work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with production requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and care of tools and equipment provided.
  • Collaborate with team members across manufacturing, shipping/receiving, assembly, and testing areas to support overall production needs.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by working in different areas of the large facility as needed to meet production demands.
  • Commit to completing assigned work orders and tasks, communicating any issues or delays to appropriate personnel.
Essential Skills
  • At least 1 year of assembly experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with hand tools used for mechanical and light assembly work.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately.
  • Experience with assembly or light assembly in a production setting.
  • Ability to follow instructions and simple blueprints or production documents.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and wiring.
  • Commitment to completing work orders and meeting production deadlines.
  • Adaptability to work in different areas of the facility and on various assembly tasks.
  • Capability to perform mechanical assembly and general labor in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle components weighing up to 50 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Wiring experience, including panel wiring, wiring harnesses, and electrical assembly, is preferred.
  • Blueprint reading experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with schematics for mechanical and electrical assembly is beneficial.
  • Experience with power tools and hand and power tool operation in a production environment.
  • Exposure to hydraulics and electrical systems in an assembly or manufacturing context.
  • Experience working on an assembly line, including packaging and production support tasks.
  • Comfort working in a diverse, multilingual team environment where English, Vietnamese, and Spanish are spoken.

Work Environment

This role is based in a large, temperature-controlled facility that includes manufacturing, shipping and receiving, assembly, and testing areas for car wash equipment. Assemblers may work in any of these areas depending on production needs. The position is on 2nd shift, with typical hours from 3:15 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime opportunities on Friday. The role begins as a contract position expected to run at least through January, with the possibility of extension or conversion depending on business levels, though this is not guaranteed. The environment is team-oriented and diverse, with English, Vietnamese, and Spanish commonly spoken on the line. Work involves regular use of hand and power tools, tape measures, and other assembly equipment, along with handling components up to 50 pounds. The dress code is casual, allowing appropriate jeans and t-shirts, while maintaining safety requirements. Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection are provided, and steel-toed boots are required. The facility emphasizes safe work practices, collaboration, and a structured production setting that supports efficient, high-quality assembly work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnston, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
