Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) registered nurses are sought to provide high-quality care at a healthcare facility in Des Moines, Iowa. This position involves working in a setting that handles patients with complex medical conditions, including neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and trauma cases. Candidates are required to bring their Iowa or multistate nursing license on the first day of the assignment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active Iowa or multistate nursing license, 24 months of current Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care experience in a hospital or medical center setting, neurology/neurosurgery care experience, orthopedics care experience, trauma care experience, BLS, NIHSS, and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association, EPIC electronic medical record experience, and valid drivers license.
• Preferred Qualifications: De-escalation certificate (such as CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA), trauma level I experience, and prior travel experience within the past 12 months.
• Additional Information: The position requires working 1-2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day). The start date is 07/20/2026.
• Skills: Drip experience with Heparin, PCA, 3% Sodium/Na; EKG / Strip reading; telemetry experience; experience with chest tubes and Airvo. The skills checklist must be discipline-specific, and applicants must have a performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months.
