About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS certification required Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Ability to prioritize care and multitask - Skills in starting IVs, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Med Surg specialty. You will be part of a unit with 34 beds and a patient ratio of 6:1. Support staff includes tech support during day and night shifts, as well as a unit secretary from 7 AM to 7 PM. The unit is equipped with IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners. The documentation system used is Meditech. You will be required to work three 12-hour shifts per week, with two weekends included in a four-week schedule. In the case of staffing shortages, contract labor may be the first to float. Patient experience is highly valued, and you will be expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families. This includes conducting bedside shift reports and making personal connections with patients and their family members, involving them in the care plan. The unit is recognized for its comprehensive stroke certification and as a verified level II trauma center. The dress code is navy scrubs, both tops and bottoms.
