Solar Construction Manager

Job Description

The Solar Construction Manager will oversee and direct the construction of projects from conception to completion. As a critical part of the deployment team, you will monitor and drive the project to stay on budget and schedule while ensuring compliance with engineering design, safety, and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

\n
• Work closely with the Project Manager and direct construction workers, subcontractors, and vendors.
\n
• Monitor site safety
\n
• Oversee and manage construction projects from start to finish
\n
• Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors
\n
• Review work progress on a daily basis, compared to overall project schedule, address course correction with workers, subcontractors, clients, and vendors
\n
• Accept deliveries and inspect materials at project sites on a timely basis by the most effective, efficient means. Document and resolve issues.
\n
• Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
\n
• Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
\n
• Respond to work delays and emergencies. Analyze and mitigate risks.
\n
• Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations.
\n
• Interpret/ explain contracts and technical information to coordinate with external civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, roofing consultants/ contractors.
\n
• Provide recommendations for continuous improvements in project designs, plans, processes, and deployment.
\n
• Collect commissioning and punch list data and provide contractors instruction on the proper method of remediation.
\n
• Ensure QA/QC documentation is completed on-site accurately and delivered to the project team.
\n
• Study supplier and subcontractor installation procedures and improve according to specifications.
\n
• Lead on-site meetings with clients, contractors, utility, and other stakeholders.
\n
• Initiate and maintain relationships with clients, building owners, contractors, and local community.
\n
• Secure permits from local authorities to commence site activities.
\n
• Ensure contractors meet the contractual conditions of performance.

Knowledge & Skills

\n

\n
• Proven working experience in solar construction management.
\n
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes means and methods.
\n
• Expertise in construction, particularly electrical work and safety management including OSHA, NFPA, NEC and incorporation of safety into the daily work
\n
• Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
\n
• Desire to work on-site during construction phase.
\n
• Excellent time and project management skills.
\n
• Strong technical aptitude with ability to deliver creative solutions.
\n
• Self-driven, highly motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
\n
• Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
\n
• High degree of attention to detail and follow-through.
\n
• Ability to read and understand electrical, mechanical, civil and/or architectural drawings.
\n
• Knowledge of commissioning requirements/procedures and ability to use technical equipment.
\n
• Knowledge of mechanical installations, roof repairs and lifting procedures.
\n
• Experience with project closeout and ability to recognize and prevent deficiencies during construction.
\n
• Certified or knowledgeable in Infrared Thermography of electrical equipment.
\n
• Knowledge in using I-V Curve Tracer.
\n
• Passion for sustainable power generation.
\n

Experience & Education

\n

\n
• Four-year degree preferred – construction management or similar (or equivalent experience)
\n
• Proven track record with 2 – 5 years of experience as a construction manager, with experience in renewable energy construction projects.
\n
• OSHA 30 required.
\n
• Experience working with clients in a rapidly evolving environment and developing creative solutions to meet conflicting needs.
\n
