District Office Accounting Specialist

Pay Information Range 27 ($5,353.79–$7,751.35) per month based on current schedule. New employees begin on Step C ($5,353.79). Salary negotiation is not allowed. Promoted or transferred employees placed as specified in the CBA. This position is FLSA non‑exempt (may accrue overtime). Excellent benefits for contract employees with assignments ≥50 % (0.50 FTE) and eligible dependents. A temporary probationary period applies. Location District Office, Mission Valley. Position District Office Accounting Specialist in the Payroll Office. Hours are Monday‑through‑Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with remote work flexibility. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days and hours based on departmental needs. Employee may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s option. Desired Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred. Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday, PeopleSoft). 2–4 years of progressive experience with U.S. payroll (processing, validation, tax compliance, wage attachments, adjustments, year‑end processing, periodic reporting, supplemental payrolls, etc.) required; five or more years preferred. 2–4 years of experience in tax and/or payroll tax, including resolving federal and state payroll tax notices, amendments; multi‑state payroll taxation experience is a plus. Foreign Degree Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI. A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the online application.
