Patient Care Tech (PCT) ICU Stepdown / IMC (Full-Time / Days) Location: Texas Health Flower Mound, 4400 Long Prairie Rd., Flower Mound, TX 75028. Schedule: Full‑time, 36 hours per week, 3 12‑hour day shifts, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm, rotating weekends and holidays. ICU Stepdown / IMC Department Highlights PCTs can join committees to improve our unit in any way. Fast‑paced unit with a multidisciplinary team. Teamwork – you are never alone, and patient safety is a top priority. Here’s What You Need High school diploma or equivalent. One year of PCT experience in an acute‑care setting is preferred. Completion of a PCT training program such as TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community‑college program, or a THR‑approved program. Certification is not required to maintain after hire. EMT training (including military medical training equivalent to EMT‑B). Certification is not required to maintain after hire. Other nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Certification is not required after hire. One year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required before independent patient care and must be maintained quarterly. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training maintained annually within 90 days. Strong organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills. Students who have completed fundamentals training and EMTs who do not retain EMT status may continue if they have consistently demonstrated the required skills. What You Will Do Patient Care Techs (PCTs) are responsible for providing an excellent patient healthcare experience at each Texas Health site. They provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, performing duties such as feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, or moving patients, or changing linens. PCTs may also transfer or transport patients. Essential Functions Assist patients according to the plan of care. Collect patient data and report significant findings to the nurse. Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge processes. Provide and revise activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently. Takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk. Enter orders into the computer or manual system, if applicable. Document accurately and appropriately. In collaboration with the nurse, adapt care to reflect patient population. In collaboration with the nurse, incorporate cultural and religious needs and beliefs into delivery of care. Keep the patient environment clean and maintain a safe environment. Anticipate patient, family, and visitor needs and take action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
