Grocery Department Manager

Full-time

$27.00 - $32.00 per hour

Permanent Position: 40 hours per week on average

Training and Scholarships up to $1,000 per term

Premium Pay increase of.50/hour for all eligible employees working any hours on Saturday-Sunday, and weekdays before 6 am, or after 7 pm

Position Overview

Perform and oversee work in the areas of:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations of the Grocery Department and Liquor Store
  • Meet sales, gross, and labor goals
  • Department scheduling and time card approval
  • Staff recruitment, orientation, and training
  • Workplace safety
  • Basic maintenance and repairs

Essential Job Functions

Oversee customer service and the customer experience

Direct and coordinate department production, pricing, and sales

Review performance data and assess goal achievement to determine areas needing improvement

Establish and implement departmental policies and goals

Communicating issues with subordinates and superiors

Interview and oversee the training of new employees

Work with other managers in planning and directing promotional activities

Oversee workplace safety in the Grocery Department

Requirements

Previous Department Manager, Supervisor, or equivalent experience

Ability to pass a background check as described in the Safe Hiring Plan

Intermediate knowledge and experience with computer systems

Experience using office suites in a business setting, and/or equivalent education

Comfort performing various monetary transactions

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with employees, customers, and vendors

Strong organizational skills

Personnel and Human Resources Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment and selection.

Clerical Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.

Sales and Marketing Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit and use a computer for a period of 2 hours
