Job Title: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:00) Experience: Minimum 1 year required License: Must possess a valid nursing license Certifications: Required: BCLS and NRP Must-Have: Must be able to care for all aspects of labor and delivery triage antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn Description: The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing care to patients during labor and delivery. Ratios: Days - 1:3, Nights - 1:2-3, Weekends - 1:2-3. Average Daily Census: 1-2. First-timers are accepted. Weekend requirements include working every other weekend but can accommodate every third weekend. This position does not require being on-call. The clinician must be willing to float to units outside of obstetrics to support patient care. Floating may include providing support for mental health patients or those at risk for harm. Assist with taking vital signs, toileting, and repositioning of patients on the medical-surgical unit may be asked. There will be no expectations of taking a patient assignment outside of the obstetrics unit. Open to accommodating block scheduling. Must be able to care for all aspects of labor and delivery including triage, antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care. Skills required include FHM and IV start. Charge nurse experience is preferred. Candidates should have experience with Epic charting. Healthcare setting experience is preferred. Special requirements include the ability to handle tasks such as administration of blood and blood products, amnioinfusion, administration of antihypertensives, and assisting with high-risk deliveries. The labor and delivery unit may require support from staff during minor surgeries and post-operative care. Candidates should be proficient in neonatal assessments, postpartum hemorrhage management, and recognizing and treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. This role may involve using infusion pumps, external fetal monitoring, and other specialized equipment.
