Weekend Shift Mechanic

Aerospace Assembler

This role focuses on assembling engine cowlings, casings, and sheet metal components for aerospace applications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will read blueprints and standard operating procedures, use a variety of hand and power tools, and perform quality checks such as torque verification and electrical bond testing to ensure each assembly meets strict aerospace specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures to assemble components and parts accurately.
• Assemble engine cowlings, casings, and sheet metal components for aerospace products, including large parts and structures.
• Use power tools, hand tools, drills, and torque tools to perform mechanical assembly operations safely and efficiently.
• Perform basic quality verification practices, including torque settings, electrical bond checks, and dimensional measurements.
• Complete electrical bond checks in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
• Follow Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles in daily work activities.
• Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with a tight-knit, team-oriented group to meet production goals and maintain high quality standards.
• Support production of aerospace components that may serve commercial and military aircraft engines.
• Follow instructions from supervisors and leads to adjust to new tasks, processes, or specifications as needed.
• Train on the designated training shift and transition to the regular shift schedule upon completion of training.

Essential Skills

• 23 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of experience working in an aerospace or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience assembling large parts, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or similar industries.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and standard operating procedures.
• Proficiency using power tools, hand tools, drills, and torque tools for mechanical assembly.
• Basic understanding of quality verification practices, including torque settings, electrical bond checks, and dimensional measurements.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and specifications consistently.
• Commitment to following all health and safety guidelines.
• Capability to train on a day shift schedule for several weeks before transitioning to the regular shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in an aerospace environment is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with Honeywell specifications is a strong plus.
• Experience with commercial or military aircraft engines is a significant advantage.
• Background in aerospace, automotive, or other manufacturing industries is acceptable.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement practices.
• Prior experience in structured environments such as air force, army, or marines can be beneficial.
• Willingness to work overtime when needed, including potential Sunday shifts.

Work Environment

The role is based in an aerospace manufacturing environment located on-site near a major airport. The facility operates under Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles, with a strong emphasis on safety, organization, and quality. You will work closely with a very team-oriented, tight-knit group that values collaboration and mutual support. The training schedule is Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on four 10-hour shifts. After completing training, you will move to a regular schedule of Saturday through Monday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., working 36 hours and being paid for 40. Overtime opportunities range from 2 to 10 hours, with double time available for Sunday work. The environment involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, drills, torque tools, and other mechanical assembly equipment, and requires adherence to all safety and operational guidelines.

Pay and Benefits
