The Cash Posting Clerk will perform clerical and payment processing duties under the supervision of the Business Services Coordinator. The role includes receiving and posting patient and non-patient payments, balancing daily cash, researching account balances, processing refunds, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities include:

• Greet patients and the public politely and professionally.
• Receive and post patient and non-patient payments to patient accounts.
• Balance daily cash, checks, batch listings, and deposits.
• Issue receipts to payors.
• Research unidentified cash and post payments to the appropriate accounts.
• Research credit balance accounts for transfers or refunds.
• Post refunds and complete Accounts Payable requirements for refund checks.
• Complete Medicare/Medi-Cal credit balance reports.
• Accurately post required account adjustments.
• Maintain account transaction records in computer systems and hard-copy files.
• Enter detailed comments and account information into the computer system.
• Copy checks and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) as required.
• Answer inquiries accurately and courteously.
• Interpret for non-English-speaking patients/public when needed.
• Provide coverage for co-workers' desks when necessary.

Required experience includes:

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a cashier using a computer.
• Experience with cash handling, payment processing, or account transactions.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• Ability to type 4555 WPM.
• Ability to operate a 10-key calculator by touch.
• Ability to operate office equipment including printers, copiers, adding machines, and personal computers.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
