HVAC Tech II

Job Summary In a safe, efficient, and professional manner, the HVAC Technician will perform preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshoot, and service commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Experience should include maintenance of ACUs, AHUs, heat pumps, VAVs, DDCs, ventilation systems, chillers, boilers, and kitchen equipment. The role involves testing, data analysis, and recommendations to ensure equipment functions properly. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Maintain HVACR equipment according to standards, including installation, troubleshooting, repair, monitoring, and record‑keeping. Operate and monitor BMS, check refrigerant system efficiency, use recovery, vacuum, and charging equipment. Analyze root causes of HVACR problems, report findings, recommend future work, and close service reports after client satisfaction. Keep accurate logs for operating, lubrication, filters, belts, spare parts, refrigerant, chemicals, and inventory. Maintain and order service tools, equipment, and supplies for preventive maintenance. Assist other mechanics and operators with major repairs, and collaborate with CMMS planners to optimize preventive scheduling. Follow safety practices, use PPE, and complete job hazard analysis forms. Attend OEM classes, submit timesheets, and communicate effectively with supervisors and customers. Work the on‑call rotation for after‑hour emergency work. Qualifications High school diploma and a 2‑year HVAC technical certificate or state‑approved HVAC license. HVAC experience working on industrial/commercial HVAC equipment/systems. Valid driver’s license. EPA Universal Refrigeration License. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Strong written and verbal reporting skills; bilingual Spanish is a plus. Physical Demands Stands, walks, uses hands to handle, and talks/hears frequently; climbs ladders, lifts up to 30 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Falls, kneels, crouches, and stretches hands and arms as needed. Work Environment Environment requires steel‑toe shoes, hearing protection, eye and hand protection, hard hat, and adherence to OSHA and HAZCOM guidelines.
