Physical Security Specialist

Summary

About the Position: Serve as a Physical Security Specialist under the direct supervision of the Real Property Services Field Office and is responsible for the administration, operational oversight and implementation of the Construction Security Plan for RSFO and for the planning of all relevant activities connected to it, to include making appropriate determinations and preparing narrative reports explaining any violations of the CSP discovered on the work site and the corrective actions taken.

Help

• Conduct security vulnerability and risk assessments of sites.
• Analyze the effectiveness of security plans and develop new measures to increase effectiveness.
• Serve as a technical expert on matters relating to security implementation.
• Coordinate with internal and external organizational elements to ensure project completion.
• Brief managers on program plans and levels of spending.
• Ensure compliance with security policies from government agencies.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires that the incumbent possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position is designated Tier 5, Special Sensitive, High Risk and the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance Level with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment.
• In addition to security clearance requirement, the individual must be able to meet Intelligence Community requirements for access to secure space and equipment.
• Individual must be able to pass a polygraph test or a series of polygraph tests and continue to pass the polygraph test on a periodic basis.
• This position requires participation in the Department of Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program to include passing a urinalysis drug testing prior to appointment and passing random urinalysis drug testing after appointment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Interpreting security concepts, principles, governing regulations, policies, and directives; 2) Advising on security policies related to secure facility leases, designs, or construction projects; 3) Providing technical guidance and recommending engineering/procedural solutions to complex problems regarding security issues or multi-discipline security programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Education

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
