Production Operator/Bedford Heights, OH, 3+ months contract

Temporary Production Operator

Third shift hours: Monday through Friday, 12 AM through 8 AM. This position will primarily be loading spray paint cans into a machine. These trays are around 30 lbs.

Summary: Safely operates multiple pieces of equipment concurrently on a daily basis. The work environment is very fast paced and requires a high degree of attentiveness and the ability to react quickly to workplace variables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of multiple machines concurrently on a daily basis that are used for the manufacture of finished goods.
  • Observe safety and security rules/regulations and avoid equipment hazards as defined in operating instructions.
  • Responsible for maintaining site quality standards of assigned job stations.
  • Report any quality issues to immediate supervisor or QA lab personnel.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards around their assigned job stations. May be required to assist in other areas of the production line as needs arise.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract numbers and to multiply and divide.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to multi-task, while safely continuing operation and monitoring of their assigned equipment. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving variable situations.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must be proficient in operating all equipment on the production line. This includes, but is not limited to the gassers, weight checkers, labelers, tubers, client coders, video jet printers, palletizers and print & apply equipment. Must also have a working knowledge of specification sheets and other production paperwork. Must be able to adapt to operating new equipment inclusive of computers.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The employee may be required to lift up to 50 lbs during the course of covering all product line positions. The employee must possess the mandatory ability to react and move quickly in case of emergency. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to the possibility of materials entering the eyes along with solvents and other liquid splashing into the eyes or on the body (safety glasses, safety goggles, face shields, rubber gloves, coveralls, aprons, earplugs, and sleeves are provided). There is also the possibility of injury to the hands and feet (gloves and safe steel-toed shoes provided). The possibility of fire exists (work is performed within an environment that is technically engineered to prevent and protect against fire hazards). Working conditions include extremes of heat, cold and humidity. Conditions can include odors, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, noise.
