Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) - Minneapolis, Minnesota (Surrounding Areas)

Position Overview:
- Provide behavioral support services across multiple school sites within the Anoka-Hennepin School District
- Collaborate with a Behavior Intervention Specialist and Special Education Administrator
- Support student success through behavior intervention, consultation, and data-driven planning
- Work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment supporting diverse student needs

Assignment Details:
- Start Date: September 8, 2026
- End Date: June 10, 2027
- Schedule: Approximately 8:30 AM - 4:10 PM (hours may vary slightly)
- Sites: Support 3-4 school locations (assigned; based on need, not guaranteed)
- Caseload: Multi-site support model

Key Qualifications:
- Licensed BCBA or Special Education Teacher (required)
- If applying as a Special Education Teacher: must hold a Tier 3 or 4 license
- RBT certification alone does NOT qualify for this role
- Experience with behavioral intervention, FBAs, and school-based services preferred
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple sites and adapt to varying environments

Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs)
- Develop and implement positive behavior intervention strategies
- Support students through de-escalation techniques and behavior redirection
- Collaborate with educators and teams to support individualized student programming
- Assist in the development and implementation of IEPs
- Provide training and guidance to staff on behavioral strategies
- Use data to inform decisions and monitor student progress
- Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
- Follow district, state, and federal compliance guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education

- May be required to implement restrictive procedures when necessary
- Work requires flexibility, adaptability, and ability to respond calmly in crisis situations
- Focus on maintaining a positive environment for students and staff
