GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Wyoming Department of Transportation is seeking a Driver License Field Examiner to join our team in Worland, Wyoming with weekly travel to Thermopolis and Basin. This is a public-facing, customer service-focused role where you'll assist individuals by issuing ID cards, driver's licenses, and commercial driver licenses, as well as administering written and road tests. You'll play a key role in helping customers navigate the licensing process while ensuring public safety. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provides service to and interacts with the general public in a professional and courteous manner, including questions about applications for driver licenses and identification cards, traffic laws, licensing requirements, driver education, insurance, and organ donation. Receives, reviews, and issues licenses, permits, identification cards, disabled placards, and related applications, revisions, and renewals. Determines applicants’ eligibility for licensing by inquiries and interpretation of responses in state and national computer systems. Screens applicants’ physical, mental, and visual abilities to safely operate motor vehicles per state and federal law. Administers computer-assisted written and vision tests, or other tests; schedules driving skills tests. Administers driving skills test examinations and performs vehicle inspections prior to testing. Advises applicants of suspensions, cancellations, and revocations and how to reinstate driving privileges. Accurately enters and processes data into computer applications; operates signature and photo capture devices; manages receipts and ensures accountability. Researches and communicates information related to license and permit requirements to the public, agency staff, law enforcement, courts, other states, and government officials; explains license processing policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the examiner's procedural manual, rules, and regulations. Knowledge of pertinent federal policies and procedures, state statutes, and the Driver License Information System. Knowledge of detecting fraudulent documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Business) Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in business) OR 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Business) Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Travel is required to various WYDOT locations.
