Assistant Coach – Volleyball Jefferson Parish Schools – WEST JEFFERSON HIGH - HARVEY, Louisiana Job Details Job ID: 5695991 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 06, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: Aug 1, 2026 Job Description Position Description: Assist the head volleyball coach in the development, organization, and implementation of the entire volleyball program, providing leadership to volleyball personnel and student athletes. Adhere to all LHSAA assigned district, Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) rules and regulations. Work days consist of time after the school day necessary to adequately prepare the team for competition. Work weekends and holidays as determined by team preparedness. Security Statement: Maintain security of electronic and print records, protecting student information and passwords for database access. Scope of Responsibility: Assist the head coach in supervising the volleyball program. Assist in maintaining, inventorying, and issuing all equipment. Build sportsmanship and provide good public relations for the school and community. Ensure all student athletes have current physical exams. Ensure all athletes have adequate insurance coverage per JPPSS and LHSAA requirements and that proper documentation is signed by parents/legal guardians. Participate in professional development through workshops, literature, clinics, and seminars. Acquire thirty-six (36) Continuing Learning Units (CLUs) per year (July 1 through June 30). Report rosters, schedules, scores, eligibility, incidents, or injuries promptly to parish and state authorities. Coordinate with the athletic director and administrators for athletic affairs. Perform duties assigned by the principal or appropriate administrator. Skills and Qualifications: Communicate effectively in Standard English, orally and in writing or digitally. Use telecommunication systems to accurately give and receive information, communicating tactfully with students, parents, and school personnel while following JPPSS policies. Accurately communicate with members of the media. Represent the school and/or school system at various functions. Compile and access data, summarize information, and provide written reports to the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate, CECP completion and/or current LHSAA requirements. Possess a CDL class B or above with a P and S endorsement free of air brake restrictions. Meet all Louisiana Department of Education school bus driver component requirements. Employment with Jefferson Parish Public School System as a teacher and/or administrator; meet Article 3.3 (Faculty Coaches) of the LHSAA handbook. Demonstrated expertise, knowledge, and competency in basic volleyball fundamentals. Professional knowledge of LHSAA and JPPSS rules and regulations for volleyball. Expertise in conditioning athletes, sport‑specific training. Desirable Qualifications: Previous playing experience in volleyball at college, university, or high school level. Previous coaching experience at the junior varsity, junior high/middle school, or recreational activity level in volleyball. Expertise in first aid for prevention and treatment of volleyball injuries. Physical Involvement: Stand, run, walk, reach, bend, and lift as required. Demonstrate athletic techniques and physically transfer or position athletes as required. Move heavy athletic equipment. Provide own transportation to games, work locations, and meeting sites.
