Our Mission: Eliminating Every Barrier To Mental Health.
Spring Health is a global mental health company on a mission to eliminate every barrier to mental health. We're building a world where getting support is simple, personal, and built around the person, so care can continue through every job, move, health plan, and life stage. Our AI-native platform helps us deliver personalized support across self-guided tools, coaching, therapy, medication management, and specialty care. With outcomes independently validated by JAMA Network Open and the Validation Institute, Spring Health reaches more than 170 million people worldwide through leading employers, health plans, and partners. As an AI-native company, we believe technology should expand the reach, quality, and humanity of care. Every Spring Health team member is expected to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to AI outputs, and keep building AI fluency in ways that support their role and our mission.
Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this full-time VP role will serve as the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) and support the CMO in leading the Medical Affairs team. The DCMO will bring deep clinical credibility, commercial acumen, and ecosystem influence to drive continual clinical quality improvement (especially in medication management), build new care-delivery programs, accelerate the integration of AI into care services, and provide external thought leadership to customers and other stakeholders. This is a remote position with travel expected once a month for company and external customer/prospect meetings.
What You'll Do:
- Support the evolution of core clinical programs across the organization and serve as a critical thought partner in developing new care programs
- Lead the execution and quality improvement of the medication management capability and other programs across the organization
- Ensure ethical, safe, and well-designed use of AI tools to improve provider care delivery across all areas of mental health care
- Serve as a clinical representative with external stakeholders, including health plans, large employer clients, key sales / partnership conversations and complex customer topic conversations (e.g., outcomes, safety, prescribing practices)
- Act as a senior change leader on Spring Health's most complex and strategic initiatives - ensuring clinical clarity, alignment, and adoption while reinforcing our culture and values.
What Success Looks Like:
- Steadily improving clinical outcomes from care delivery efforts
- Right care at the right time for the right person across all areas of care delivery
- Consistent quality improvement across key care metrics
- Improved efficiency of care delivery while maintaining improved outcomes
- High customer satisfaction for our care delivery practices
What You'll Bring:
- Board-certified psychiatrist (MD/DO) with 15+ years of clinical care experience
- 10+ years of leadership experience in mental health care, leading clinics, providers, care operations, or other activities.
- Strong ability to manage and influence senior leaders internally and externally
- Proven, effective cross-functional leadership at VP or senior level in a high-growth, fast-paced organization
- Strong people-leadership ability with executives, peers, direct reports, and other team members
- Systems thinker who is able to translate clinical nuance into scalable processes
- Hands-on leader willing to engage directly at all levels to solve key problems
- Strong clinical grounding, but also adaptable and able to balance clinical rigor with the pragmatism of a fast-moving environment
- High comfort with ambiguity and accountability, including being willing to be on-call for high-stakes situations
Nice To Have:
- 5+ years leading care activities and guiding the design and build of product within the digital mental health ecosystem
- Strong understanding and clinical experience with principles and applicability of various modalities of psychotherapy
- Strong understanding of measurement-based care and the challenges of implementation at scale across a variety of provider groups
- Familiarity with internal AI enablement tools and change management methodologies
