Job DescriptionJob Summary: The Senior Manager, Media Strategy & Planning partners with Marketing Leadership, agency partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute enterprise media strategies that align business objectives, customer priorities, and full-funnel marketing goals. This role leads channel investment planning, media calendar management, scenario planning, and performance optimization across the portfolio. The position is responsible for translating strategic priorities into investment plans, ensuring channel strategies work together to drive business outcomes, and connecting campaign execution to broader enterprise media objectives. Reporting to the Senior Director, this role serves as a key media leader and liaison across Marketing, Finance, Analytics, and agency teams to maximize media effectiveness, operational excellence, and return on investment. #LI-NL1This role is based in our Deerfield, IL office and is on‑site four days a week. Key Focus:Partner with Marketing Leadership, agency partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and execute enterprise media strategies and planning frameworks across Walgreens' portfolio.Lead annual media planning efforts, aligning audience segmentation strategies, channel mix recommendations, flighting plans, and investment approaches to support business objectives and full-funnel marketing goals.Develop channel investment recommendations and partnership strategies, including major media investments such as Video Upfront opportunities, while partnering with Media Activation teams on execution.Lead media calendar management, investment allocation, and scenario planning to optimize performance and respond to evolving business priorities.Ensure enterprise media strategies, standards, and best practices are consistently applied across campaigns, driving alignment and connectivity across media initiatives.Track, manage, and report planned media investments across the portfolio, ensuring accuracy, visibility, and effective stewardship of media budgets.Oversee paid media planning for enterprise Upfront video investments and associated partnership opportunities.Partner with Analytics, Marketing Science, and agency teams to leverage measurement frameworks, Marketing Mix Modeling, and performance insights to optimize media effectiveness and ROI.Identify and evaluate external media partnerships, developing frameworks and scorecards that assess business impact, innovation opportunities, and future growth potential.Lead development and implementation of diverse investment strategies and multicultural media planning approaches across enterprise campaigns.Serve as a key connector across Marketing, Finance, Analytics, and agency teams, ensuring alignment between media investments, campaign execution, and business objectives.Monitor industry trends, emerging media opportunities, and best practices to inform strategic recommendations and continuous improvement across the media portfolio.Job Responsibilities:Collaborates on development of enterprise media strategies and plans that span all areas of Walgreens business.Leads Annual planning for the media discipline, aligning to core segmentation strategies, channel mixes, flighting plans and financial investment approaches to maximize business impact.Leads channel investment and partnership strategy, driving major media investments like the Video Upfront as well as setting approaches across all channels (to be executed in partnership with Media Activation team)Supports campaign media team to apply enterprise strategies and best practices within each campaign, elevating and connecting the media work.Executes scenario planning and calendar/ plan changes (incremental investments, investment shifts, etc.) as well as ensures accurate tracking and reporting of planned media expenditures across the total plan.Oversees paid media efforts for all Upfront video plansOversees implementation of data integration and processes to deliver Performance Analysis (i.e. Marketing Mix Modeling)Identifies external partnerships and leads the creation and management of frameworks and scorecards that enable acceleration, business value/impact, and future looking opportunities.Leads development of Diverse Investment strategy and Multicultural campaign planning process and ensures implementation across all campaigns across the EnterpriseDevelops and mentors direct-reports through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; builds and maintains employee morale and motivation; ensures direct reports are appropriately staffed with required competencies; fosters a diverse and inclusive workplace.About WalgreensFounded in 1901, Walgreens ( proudly serves nearly 9 million customers and patients each day across its approximately 8,500 stores throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Walgreens has approximately 220,000 team members, including nearly 90,000 healthcare service providers, and is committed to being the first choice for pharmacy, retail and health services, building trusted relationships that create healthier futures for customers, patients, team members and communities.External Basic QualificationsBachelors Degree and at least 4 years of experience in media planning and strategy OR High School/GED and at least 7 years of experience in media planning and strategyExperience in all forms of Integrated media planning across traditional and digital mediums, driving optimized plans and business results.Experience with team leadership and project management (planning, organizing and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).Experience creating and managing a budget to plan as well as deploying scenarios and business cases to make optimizations and updates.Experience working with Marketing Mix Modeling and or Multi touch attribution, via partners like Nielsen, Ipsos, etc.Experience collaborating with marketing, creative, measurement and other internal and external resources to develop strategies that meet goals within budget and established timelines.Experience problem solving complicated issues, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset, leading in ambiguous environments, influencing skillsets, learning agility and being cross functionally balanced.Experience interacting at the executive levelAt least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in the workplace.At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and or cross functional team leadership.Willing to travel up to or at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).Preferred QualificationsAt least 8 years of experience in omni channel media planning, inclusive of traditional and digital channelsExperience working closely on paid media contribution projections and pacingExperience in Retail, Pharmacy and Agency Media experienceDeep digital and omni experience is preferredWe will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
