Litigation Partner or Senior Counsel

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Litigation Partner or Senior Counsel to help grow our expanding North Carolinaoffices . The candidate must be a senior level attorney with a minimum of ten (10) years of significant civil and/or commercial litigation experience.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of managing an active litigation case load and experienced in drafting and preparing pleadings, briefs, motions, and other litigation documents; managing discovery, including taking/presenting witnesses for deposition, oral argument, and trial preparation; conducting legal research, analysis and writing; and will possess excellent oral advocacy, communication, and writing skills. Candidate must have a reasonable book of portable litigation business.Candidate is also expected to help grow our litigation presence in North Carolina and be an active networker in the community and various organizations.

This position is available in any of our North Carolina offices

J.D. from an ABA accredited law school

Excellent academic credentials

At least 10 years’ of significant commercial litigation experience, with construction litigation experience preferred.

Excellent legal research and analysis skills

Current member of the North Carolina bar with litigation experience in North Carolina federal and state courts

Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change

Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team

Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm

Ability to manage a team of associates and paralegals

Willingness to help mentor our skilled associates

Communication

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and staff

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion

Ability and confidence to identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate actions/solutions

Agility to respond to unexpected challenges, including proactively developing innovative solutions to complex problems while maintaining a professional demeanor

Valid authorization to work in the U.S.
