Travel RN - Med/Surg TeleAmerican TravelerSioux Falls, South Dakota, United StatesPosition ID: P-765516Position status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 3$2,527.00/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Pulmonary unit position requiring ACLS certification and IMC skills at a Level 1 trauma, Magnet-designated facility.DetailsAcute care setting on a 30-bed medical cardiopulmonary unit and an 8-bed intermediate/progressive care unitLevel 1 trauma facilityPatient population includes pneumonia, COPD, CHF, pulmonary embolism, and complex pulmonary cases requiring ventilation and cardiac monitoringAverage length of stay is 4 days on the Medical Unit and 9 days in Pulmonary AcuteNight shift schedule, 36 hours per week, 12-hour shiftsEvery other weekend and every other holiday requiredNurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3 in Pulmonary Acute for IMC-trained RNs, 1:4-5 on day shifts, and 1:5-6 on night shifts in Medical CardiopulmonaryUses Epic EMR, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Omnicell for medicationsFloating required to Med-Surg units, with travelers prioritized for reassignmentRNs with IMC skill sets may work in both the Medical Cardiopulmonary and IMC Pulmonary Acute unitsRequirementsActive SD or compact RN license requiredBLS and ACLS certification (AHA) requiredMinimum 2 years of RN experience requiredIMC skill set required, including trach/vent care and managementExperience with BiPap, CPAP, heated high flow, and oxygen titrationExperience with moderate sedation monitoring alongside ACLSExperience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), Heparin drips, and Lasix administrationExperience with telemetry monitoring and Medical-Surgical patient care including chest tubes, blood administration, ABG interpretation, central line management, and post-procedural careEpic EMR experience preferredBSN and specialty certification preferredAdditional InformationProvide patient care for a diverse cardiopulmonary population including oxygen therapy, IV medications, moderate sedation during bronchoscopies, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and mechanical/non-invasive ventilationCollaborate with an interdisciplinary team including case managers, social workers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and physical therapistsWork closely with pulmonary intensivists and hospitalist teams3-day orientation includes competency validation, online modules, core competency checks, a precepted shift, and a 12-hour orientation shift on the unitDress code requires blue scrubs and closed-toed shoesFacility is a Magnet-designated organization with opportunities to engage in unit-specific or hospital-wide committeesFirst-time travelers may be considered for this positionCandidates with previous employment at this health system must have an end date at least 6 months prior to consideration
