Job Summary And Responsibilities As a Patient Safety Specialist RN you will help Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (VMFH) improve their patient safety program so they can reduce harm, promote a culture of safety and drive a High Reliability Organization (HRO). Every day you will play a lead role in the response to serious safety events, major unanticipated clinical events and high-risk near-miss events. You will facilitate manage the investigation, analysis, classification and corrective action planning using patient safety science principles and the tools of the Virginia Mason Production System. You will be expected to ensure standards around patient and family communication pathways and team member support pathways are followed. Key Responsibilities Provide subject matter expertise in the field of patient safety. Evaluate and analyze patient safety events to prioritize and identify issues that require action. Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support decision‑making and action planning, including culture of safety survey analysis. Problem‑solve and troubleshoot within scope of position and appropriately escalated issues to higher‑level management. Manage complex parallel workstreams in response to serious unanticipated clinical events and assure standard response processes are carried out. Provide coaching to others on communication to patients and families following adverse medical events. Project manage assigned work related to the overall patient safety program. Provide formal written and verbal reports. Support regulatory responses and reporting requirements. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and 3 years of related work experience that demonstrates attainment of required job knowledge and abilities. Active Washington State Registered Nurse License. Preferred Certified Professional in Patient Safety. Pay Range $52.04 - $77.42 /hour #J-18808-Ljbffr Virginia Mason Franciscan Health
