Position: CVOR Certified Surgical Technician

Location: Akron, OH

Shift: Day 4x10-Hour

Schedule: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified CVOR Certified Surgical Technician with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience, particularly in a cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) setting. The candidate should be skilled in scrubbing for open heart and vascular procedures, including wired vascular cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures by preparing the operating room and ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and functional.
• Scrub for open heart and vascular surgeries, adhering to established protocols and safety measures.
• Maintain a clear line of communication with the surgical team to facilitate efficient workflow during operations.

On-Call Requirements

• 1-2 on-call shifts during weekdays from the end of shift until 7:00 AM the following morning.
• 1 weekend on-call shift every 6 weeks, covering 24 hours on Saturday and 24 hours on Sunday.
• 1 working shift on the weekend every 6 weeks, generally coordinated with weekend call duties.
• Potential rotation on the holiday call schedule if needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a surgical technician role, with a preference for CVOR experience.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Permanent Ohio license or compact license must be held at the time of application.
• One professional reference from a manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required.

Compliance and Requirements

• COVID-19 and flu vaccination are required, with medical or religious exemptions considered.
• Compliance with a nicotine-free policy is temporary for surgical technicians.
• Background checks and other compliance measures will be conducted as per facility requirements.

Additional Notes

Candidates should be prepared for an ECG rhythm recognition test and a safeMedicate assessment during orientation. An acceptable score on both assessments is required to continue employment.
