Position Overview
Assists in purchasing materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization. Qualifies vendors, evaluates bids, and negotiates prices and terms for purchased goods and services. Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality, and maintains a current database of vendor information. Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.

Essential Job Functions

• Act as an agent for the company within the limits of authority delegated.
• Coordinates purchasing activities by reviewing requirements and working with other departments to have materials when needed.
• Continually review prices and pricing trends for product categories assigned. Secures the lowest possible price available through the economics of volume procurement by combining purchases.
• Review opportunities and initiate action for new sources of supply and suitability of materials.
• Follow up on purchase orders to ensure timely delivery may include expediting.
• Assist with administrative functions necessary to return and/or replace rejected material in a timely manner to support the production function.
• Collaborates with all departments in planning for future and existing requirements necessary to support internal and external customers.
• Works closely with supervisors to keep them apprised of major problems affecting delivery or quality of products.
• Assists with implementation of long-term agreements in materials.
• Reviews purchasing records to ensure accuracy and follow through.
• Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
• Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.
• Performs other functions not specifically listed above but required by administrative practice on management directive.
• Establish a strong focus on internal and external customer service.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in related field of study.
• 2 - 4 years of related experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) of location will be considered.
