The Inpatient Wound Care Coordinator Communicates and collaborates closely with physicians, and inpatient nurse managers, and other member of the health care team to provide consistent quality care for patients with wounds. He/she supports all inpatient activities to support the Pressure Ulcer Prevention (P.U.P.) And Wound Care Program. Working with a high degree of autonomy, the Wound Care Coordinator accepts responsibility and accountability for assigned patients to implement and evaluate the care for adult and geriatric clients. The RN works within the fame work of the Florida State Nurse Practice Act and follows all hospital policies and procedures. He/she complies with hospital and nursing philosophy and standards while performing job duties and responsibilities and will demonstrate competence in these key areas through the ability to perform function, including, but not limited to, the common examples listed. Responsibilities 1. Coordinates and supervises patient care in the inpatient settings, as it correlates to wound care. 2. Gives care to the patient, reflecting flexibility in rules and regulations, as indicated by individual patient needs, as it correlates to wound care. 3. Makes decisions reflecting knowledge of facts, knowledge of diseases/surgical conditions, care required and good judgment. 4. Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, as indicated, and evaluates for effectiveness, as it correlates to wound care. 5. Formulates a teaching plan, based on identified staff and patient learning needs, and evaluates effectiveness of learning; family included in teaching, as appropriate, from admission to discharge. 6. Identifies wound changes and takes appropriate action in a timely manner. Knowledge of skin care, pressure ulcer prevention, and TX. 7. Demonstrates an ability to select most appropriate support surface for patient. Qualifications Education: Florida Nursing License License/Certifications: BLS, ACLS, both approved by AHA Recommended: Certification in Wound Care and Ostemy Care preferred Organization Description Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center (PBGMC), part of the Palm Beach Health Network, the largest health care network in Palm Beach County, is a 199-bed acute care hospital.
