Job Description: Cook at Golden Corral Position Title : Cook Reports To : General Manager / Associate Manager Position Overview: The Cook is responsible for the quality, quantity, tastiness, and freshness of all Hot Choice Buffet products. The Cook pays special attention to speed, cleanliness, organization, and product specifications. Food Production: Prepares Hot Choice Buffet products, including Carving and Display Cooking products, according to Golden Corral recipes and procedures. Grills all items according to Golden Corral standards to ensure quality. Ensures that every fried product is always fresh and hot. If the Buffet Attendant is unavailable, the Cook restocks the items at the Display Cooking Station. If the Carver is unavailable, assists guests with carved meat options. Complete use and following of the buffet production system to insure quality and shelf life compliance. Adherence to Standards: Maintains the correct temperature of all products during cooking, holding and serving. Uses the Hot Choice Buffet Production Guide and the Display Cooking Hot Cook Production Guide to maintain an inventory of all hot cook products. Conducts opening and closing administrative procedures. Properly maintains equipment according to the Equipment Maintenance manual. Restocks and rotates food products by using the first-in, first-out method (FIFO). Takes inventory of products and checks build-to with the Manager at the beginning and end of each shift. Cleanliness: Ensures that that Hot Cook area and all small wares are clean and checks dishes for cleanliness before using them. Performs duty roster and Cleanliness, Service, and Quality (CSQ) responsibilities. Follows local health department laws. Keeps Char Grill clean and scraped to ensure product quality and sanitation. Guest Service: Ensures that Hot Choice Buffet products, including Display Cooking products, are always hot and fresh for the guests. Knows and follows position responsibilities as they relate to just-in-time delivery. Friendly and courteous to guests and assists them with the products. Maintains professional communication at all times. Performs other functions that may be necessary to ensure guests receive a pleasurable dining experience. Qualifications: Previous cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant or kitchen environment preferred. Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and sanitation standards. Ability to multitask and work efficiently under pressure. Strong communication skills and ability to work well with a team. Ability to follow recipes and instructions with attention to detail. Job Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods (4-8+ hours) with periodic breaks. Perform repetitive motions, including frequent use of hands and arms for tasks such as chopping, stirring, carrying, and operating equipment. Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, twisting, and reaching above eye level. Capability to walk up and down stairs and use a step ladder as needed. Occasional sitting, talking, and active listening as required by the role. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly as part of job duties, including but not limited to food supplies, dishware, and equipment. When handling heavier loads, employees MUST use appropriate lifting equipment and/or seek assistance from a second person. Ability to move around the kitchen quickly and efficiently. Compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. Work Environment/ Job Conditions Flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work in a loud, fast-paced environment. Employees may regularly work in varying temperature zones, including hot kitchen areas with stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers, as well as cold storage areas like refrigerators and freezers. Outdoor tasks may involve curbside delivery, trash maintenance, or ensuring a clean and welcoming exterior for guests.
