Seeking talented reporter

The Hawaii Tribune-Herald, a daily newspaper located on the east side of the Big Island of Hawaii, has an immediate opening for a talented general assignment reporter. Ideal applicant is an enthusiastic self-starter with a can-do attitude who can handle all types of assignments (government/public affairs, breaking news, enterprise, features, etc.) and produce an average of 6-9 well-written and accurate stores per week for  print and digital editions. Two years of daily newspaper experience and a bachelor's degree in journalism (or  communications/English) preferred. Additional skills sought: Proficiency with InDesign, experience with leading social media platforms, knowledge of island culture, photography/video. This position offers competitive wages and excellent benefits in a dynamic island environment. The newspaper is based in Hilo, one of the most affordable towns in Hawaii and the second-largest city in the state. Applicant must be willing to relocate within six to eight weeks after accepting an offer. Some relocation assistance may be available. Two-year commitment expected.
